ABOUT US
Our role as a backbone organisation ensures collaboration between the public, private and non-profit sector. We believe that complex problems need dynamic collaborative solutions. Our backbone role allows us to identify and find solutions that lead to sustainable and impactful change. We have found purposeful networking, clear coordination and willing cooperation to be key in shifting to long-term social investment.
WHO WE ARE
We are a proudly South African independent non-profit organisation focused on “creating better tomorrows for the young children” in our country. The values of the Foundation play an important role in shaping the culture and key priorities of the work we do. These values include authenticity, partnerships, entrepreneurship and sustainability.
WHAT WE DO
The Foundation has launched various National Young Child programmes directed at improving nutrition, early learning and providing parent/caregiver support. The Foundation also facilitates several deep-rooted community-specific projects in partnership with various stakeholders to drive significant impact around Early Childhood Development (ECD), youth enterprise development and hunger alleviation.
WHY EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT?
- 90% of brain development occurs before age 5 This is why we focus specifically on children from birth to age 5.
- Improves Primary School Readiness And in turn high school completion and tertiary study enrolment.
- Reduces Crime And the reliance on social services in later life.
- Reduces Inequality By nurturing critical thinkers and problem solvers from an early age, ultimately creating a skilled workforce and stronger economy.
