This Mandela Day, the spirit of service came to life as staff volunteers rolled up their sleeves to pack 675 Move & Play Kits with outdoor play equipment for young children across South Africa, as part of the DO MORE Foundation and Kids Collab "67 Minutes for Play" campaign.

The boxes packed and distributed will bring the magic of outdoor play to approximately 30,000 young children that will now have the opportunity to build physical, cognitive, social and emotional regulation skills though active play every school day.

Thanks to the generosity, commitment and sponsorships of our Mandela Day partners, we achieved:

  • 675 Move & Play Kits packed
  • 190 volunteers giving their time
  • 212 volunteer hours
  • 14 partners working together
  • Kits distributed across 10 communities

Once recieved by the 675 ECD centres, the practitioners will receive the training necessary to bring this outdoor equipment to life every school day for the young children under their care. Follow-up Play Day events will be hosted by staff volunteers at some of the ECD centres to bring them closer to the impact they have been part of making.

We extend our sincere thanks to Kids Collab, Anchor Yeast, Magnet, Stewarts and Lloyds Projects and Contracts (Pty) Ltd, Tropic Plastics, Tourvest Travel, East Coast Radio, Pilot Fish, Isuzu, Hertz, Thompsons Africa, RCL FOODS, Rainbow, and Skynet for helping turn 67 minutes into a lasting investment in children's futures.

At the DO MORE FOUNDATION, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive through play. By standing with us this Mandela Day, you have helped ensure that thousands more children will have access to quality outdoor play experiences that support their development long after the day itself has passed.

This year's Mandela Day campaign is another example that shows how together, we can do more.
